Test Instructions
The adrenal test will come with instructions, please read them thoroughly. I have listed a few extra instructions to support Genova’s below. Do not worry about the ‘practitioner signature’ part being blank
Please do not drink any stimulants or caffeinated beverages the day of your test. We are trying to get a normal read of your cortisol levels and stimulants will spike these levels and disrupt the diurnal curve that we are measuring.
Refrain from strenuous exercise the day that you take the test. Strenuous exercise will spike your heart rate and this will read as a spike in cortisol.
Since cortisol is a measurement of ‘stress’, you will want to take the test on a typical day for you. If something unsettling or disturbing to your nervous system happens the night before or the morning of when starting the test, please postpone until a day that is normal for you.
It is important to take the samples during the times listed on the instructions and it is best to take the first sample 30 minutes after waking. Please make sure not to eat or drink anything but water the hour before taking the test, this includes brushing and flossing your teeth
Certain medications alter the results of this test. Please let us know if you are on ketoconazole, clomiphene, phenytoin, steroids (including topical corticosteroids), and/or DHEA. Please also let us know if your partner is on topical steroids, as those can be absorbed by you.
